Advisor: Dr. Sarah Reed
About
Katelyn Ortolani is a master’s student in Dr. Sarah Reed’s lab, studying how poor maternal nutrition in the sheep model alters mitochondrial function and muscle development. This is achieved by putting ewes into overfed and restricted feeding groups during gestation, and evaluating their offspring. Katelyn is interested in seeing generational outcomes of nutritional management in livestock, and how this can be applied in production farms utilizing inputs that produce the best outputs. In her free time, Katelyn enjoys reading, caring for her houseplants, walking her dog Oakley, and spending time with her mini mule and donkey Sam and Rosie.
