Sat Morning: Mike Marquez, Vaquero Training Center Clinic 9 AM - 12 PM

Mike Marquez has been applying with great success the skills he learned growing up in the ranch lands of Northern California, a country steeped in the Vaquero traditions, to horses of all breeds and all disciplines. These skills have blended smoothly with the objectives and requirements of the new Western Dressage discipline, demonstrated by the 7 world championship titles and multiple reserve championships and top 5 awards Mike has won at 3 World Championship Shows.

9-10 – Fundamentals of Western Dressage
Developing obedience, forward and balance

10-11 - Learning to ride tests
Combining horsemanship and accuracy to produce a better test

11-12 – Learning to build Turn on the Haunches/Forehand
(And any other maneuvers we may want to address)

12-1 UConn Morgan Drill Team

1-3 Hands On Horse Science
Learn through interacting directly with clinicians in small groups: Biosecurity Tour, Lameness Locator, Saddle Fitting (English/Western), Myofascial Release Therapy, and Hands On Forage! (Topics subject to change, still scheduling some)

$35 Active Participation - Ride in Clinic ($55 total to use a UConn Horse)
$30 Active Participation - UConn Students, 4-H, Practicum members ($50 total to use a UConn horse)
$20/Adults All Day Auditor* Pass
$10/Half Day Auditor*
$10/day Age 9-18/4-H leaders/UConn students/4-H members
9 & under free!

Money raised is used to directly support equine research and extension programs at the University of Connecticut! No pre registration needed for spectators!
