Research Interests:

My long term research interest is in improving reproductive efficiency in farm animals. I have focused on control of ovarian and testicular function. My interest in the ovary is with steroid hormone production in the granulose and luteal tissue. Recently my efforts has centered on the mechanism of luteal regression. I have investigated the role of oxytocin and neuropeptide Y in progesterone synthesis. We have recently isolated functional mitochondria (site of rate limiting step in progesterone synthesis) to continue investigating factors associated with steroid production.

I have throughout my academic career been interested in the efficiency of livestock production. I have worked with a group interested in growth. Recently, I have worked with a college interested in food safety. My interest is associated with methods to reduce human pathogen organisms from the live animal.
