Research Interests:

My goal is to improve equine health through evaluation of current practices and the development of new practices, leading to sound equine health management programs for horse owners to utilize. The specific aims of my research are to:

  1. Utilize DNA techniques to develop alternative treatments for common horse health problems and reduce bacterial resistance

  2. Evaluate the incidence of insulin resistance, identify causative agents and develop dietary intervention

  3. Evaluate the incidence of gastric ulcer disease in horses and attempt to modify its incidence through dietary intervention
